Oncotarget Podcast Named among Top-ten Open-access Podcasts of 2020

Podcast has Extended Reach of World's Largest Cancer Research Journal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - NEW YORK, USA – (February 3, 2020) – In October of 2016 Oncotarget, the world's largest peer-reviewed oncology research publication, extended its reach with a series of podcasts that allowed scientists to delve deeper into variety of research contributions found in the journal.

Subscribers to the podcast series gained access to the journal's most important discoveries through full readings of published papers, interviews with selected authors, and readings of press releases from the Oncotarget newsroom.

Then in 2020, Oncotarget was named in the top ten open-access podcasts for 2020 by player.fm

"Our mission has always been to make exceptional discoveries rapidly and widely available, eliminate borders between specialties by linking different fields of biomedical science and foster applications of basic and clinical science," said Mikhail Blagosklonny, Oncotarget's editor-in-chief. "This podcast series has been another way to deliver people free access to the research published in this journal."

The podcast series contains multiple streams that target a variety of listeners on the platforms you already love to use: Apple, Stitcher, Blubrry, and Soundcloud.

  • Full readings of published papers - Audio papers, for researchers with very little time and an opposing amount of important content in the field to digest.
  • Interviews with authors - Oncotarget authors talk about surprising, interesting, or challenging aspects of the research and what direction they will be taking future research on the topic.
  • Selected Readings from the Oncotarget Newsroom - Oncotarget will present a newsroom and related podcast material for a more general audience and media outlets. These podcasts, and corresponding press, include plain language coverage of top performing papers in an effort to bring the discussion from the laboratory to the dinner table.

"Oncotarget does not stop once the paper is published," said Blagosklonny. "This podcast is part of an enhanced post publication service Oncotarget provides to authors of its papers by helping them to reach a wider audience."
